I’ve always been someone who likes having things to look forward to.
Whether it’s a holiday, a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try, a new experience or simply catching up with someone I haven’t seen in a while, I quite enjoy having something exciting marked in my calendar.
And I’ve realised that applies to my work just as much as anything else.
I receive such a variety of enquiries. Some gentlemen have been following me for years before finally introducing themselves, some know exactly what they’d like to organise, and others simply stumble across my profile and decide to say hello.
It’s one of the things I enjoy about this industry. You never quite know who you’re going to meet next.
I’ve had conversations with people whose lives are completely different from mine, discovered interests I didn’t even know existed and heard some genuinely fascinating stories.
I’m naturally a curious person, so meeting people from different backgrounds is something I’ve always loved.
Although anyone who’s met me probably already knows I have a tendency to ask approximately 400 questions.
Sorry about that.
What makes a good date?
I think people sometimes put far too much pressure on themselves when organising an appointment.
I’ve had gentlemen apologise because they haven’t planned anything particularly extravagant, or worry that they won’t be interesting enough to keep me entertained.
Which I always find a little funny.
You don’t need to have climbed Mount Everest, own three businesses or have a collection of luxury cars to be interesting.
I’m much more interested in whether we can have a laugh, find something to talk about and enjoy each other’s company.
I’ve spent evenings in beautiful restaurants, afternoons wandering around places I’ve never visited and plenty of time curled up watching movies while eating far too much takeaway.
I’ve enjoyed all of them for completely different reasons.
I do love being spoiled, and I’ll never pretend otherwise. But I also appreciate someone who can make me laugh until my face hurts.
Preferably both, if we’re being ambitious.
One thing I particularly enjoy is when someone suggests an activity or experience they genuinely love.
Maybe it’s somewhere you’ve always wanted to take someone, a favourite restaurant, a show or something a little unusual.
I’m always interested in trying something new, and I think sharing something you’re passionate about is a lovely way to get to know someone.
A few changes to my diary
As we get closer to 2027, I’m starting to organise my calendar a little differently.
With quite a lot of travel planned for next year, my time in Brisbane will be more limited, so I’m hoping to focus more on prearranged appointments and longer experiences.
I still enjoy shorter bookings, and last-minute enquiries are always welcome when my schedule allows.
But I’ve really grown to appreciate having a few hours, an evening or even an overnight together.
There’s more opportunity to actually do things rather than just talk about them, which is something my regulars and I are occasionally guilty of.
We’ve planned some wonderful adventures over the years that are apparently still waiting to happen.
You know who you are.
And with the amount of time I’ll be spending away next year, I’d love to make the most of the opportunities we do have.
For those still thinking about it
Something I hear surprisingly often is, “I’ve wanted to book you for ages.”
Sometimes that means a few weeks. Other times it’s been several years.
Which is rather sweet, although it does make me wonder how many people are quietly reading these diaries without ever saying hello.
I know making that first enquiry can feel a little daunting, particularly if you’ve never booked an independent companion before.
But I promise the process is far less complicated than you might imagine.
If something has piqued your interest, or perhaps you have an idea for an experience you haven’t seen mentioned, send me a message. I always love hearing what people have in mind, and you might be surprised by what we can organise together.
Just introduce yourself, let me know your preferred date, time and duration, and tell me a little about what you’re hoping for.
You don’t need to come up with some spectacular plan to impress me.
And you certainly don’t need a special occasion to treat yourself to something you’ve been wanting to do.
Life is busy enough without continually putting the enjoyable things at the bottom of the list.
I’m looking forward to finishing the year with some familiar faces, hopefully meeting a few new ones and seeing what interesting experiences we can squeeze in before my next adventures begin.
And if you’ve been meaning to introduce yourself, perhaps now is as good a time as any.
